Troubling Times

Again. I rarely talk about all things political but I have a gloomy feeling that the road 'America' is traveling down right now will only lead to chaos, confusion, extreme violence and protests creating a divide that will take years to heal. It's bad enough people are trying to surviving unemployment, being paid lower than minimal wages for work that deserves more so companies can save money. I'm all about saving money, as long as people are taken care of first instead of lining their own pockets.
What really irks me is how divided this nation is right now, focusing on negative news, negative views and negative attitudes. Why not focus on the positive, help each other to survive and rise above all this negativity. Sure you can't escape the negativity sometimes but you can also not allow it to change your views, anger and force others to see your point or suffer the wrath.

Prisoner to pain

I know my parents mean well. I normally don't complain.
BUT. I draw the line when I have to deal with false accusations, name calling, being forced to listen to onesided unproven conspiracy BS and called a liberal ignoramous doomed to live a failed existence because i disagree and screamed at if i don't  comply to ones standard of providing care to my mother who recently lost consciousness and fell down a flight of stairs.
I've been trying my best to fix meals that is soft enough to chew and doesn't require to much effort to swallow. I feed the cats, try to keep them from climbing on her and adding pressure to the neck brace she has to wear for eight weeks. I'm not going to force her to eat or drink anything simply because she's stubborn. She's more defiant than I am.
Already bad enough I have to do all the cooking and cleaning.
But if i make breakfast and you don't tell me what you want because you want something only you can make yet tell my mother i refused to make you anything because you called me names because I didn't get up at the crack of dawn to make you an elegant feast? So now I have to listen to her fuss at me because you can't tell her you wanted something different? And complain about the burnt mess on your plate? Shame on you.
I am not your personal house keeper. I'm trying to take care of mom with very little help. Just as before when she had heart surgery. All you did was play games on your tablet, go to your gun shows and talk conspiracy theories you guys found on the internet versus helping take care of mom by helping with some of the chores.

Looking for a job is hard work these days.

It's now December .... it just seems that the older you get, finding a job gets harder. The job you got with an associates degree now requires a bachelor degree to get. WHAT? SERIOUSLY?

Sad but true. The Associates Degree I used to get a job as a designer can barely buy a case of cheap beer these days. I'm not speaking for myself, I will survive as I always do. But I know if I'm going through this, there are probably thousands if not billions of talented people over the age of 40 struggling to find a job out there that can do the job blind-folded with one arm tied behind their backs.

Talented people who are often given entry level jobs instead of the mid-level jobs they more than qualified for. Pay them less than the minimum wage of that state to have the job with empty promises of advancing through the ranks. Am I right?

I hate seeing talented people who should be out there directing a movie, designing the fashion of 2017, their next greatest hit music debuts, etc., working at a drive-thru restaurant making 9 bucks an hour wrapping burgers and trying not to strangle the next difficult customer questioning their intelligence over ridiculous toppings on their sandwiches. It breaks my heart that these people are crushed, struggling to return to school in order to earn that bachelors only to find out ... now they need a master's to get that same job.

This has to stop. I've seen companies hire less than talented people from across the globe than hire someone located in the same city with far more talent. Who is with me on this one? I believe companies should look for talented individuals and be open to giving them a chance. What do you think?
